The Staten Island seat, relinquished by outgoing Republican, Vito Fossella (in the news this year for a drunk driving arrest and an extramarital affair), was won last night by Michael McMahon, which means that the entire congressional delegation of New York City will be Democratic for the first time in 35 years!
And with last night's capture of 32 seats of the State Senate, Democrats will be in control of the governorship and BOTH houses of the Legislature for the first time in MORE than 35 years...in fact, for the first time since 1935!
