WALL AND BROAD
THEN: Federal Hall and the second Trinity Church from a 1798 watercolor.
This was built as City Hall in 1699 and spruced up for use by the new federal government in 1789. The government relocated to Philadelphia in 1790 and the building was demolished and sold for scrap in 1812.
Federal Hall National Memorial and the third Trinity Church.
This building was built in 1842 as a U.S. Custom House and later served as a subtreasury. Now a museum, the structure is being equipped to function as a branch of the U.S. Archives.
